Padhyamala – Shlokas 6, 7, 8

In the shlokas 6, 7, and 8, Sri Jayateertharu, instructs us to pray to Goddess Lakshmi and the Dwarapalakas of  Devagriha (Vaikuntha).

One should take bath or wash their hands and legs cleanly, wear a madi vastra (dhothi & angavasthram).

Chant the following mantra’s:

ನಾರಾಯಣಯ ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣ ಗುಣರ್ಣವಾಯ ವಿಶ್ವೋದಯಸ್ಥಿತಿಲಯೋನ್ನಿಯತಿಪ್ರದಾಯ

ಙ್ನಾನಪ್ರದಾಯ ವಿಬುಧಾಸುರಸೌಖ್ಯದುಃಖ ಸತ್ಕಾರಣಯ ವಿತತಾಯ ನಮೋ ನಮಸ್ತೇ

ಯೋವಿಪ್ರಲಂಬವಿಪರೀತಮತಿಪ್ರಭೂತಾನ್ ವಾದಾನಿರಸ್ಯ ಕ್ರುತವಾನ್ ಭುವಿ ತತ್ತ್ವವಾಧಮ್

ಸರ್ವೇಶ್ವರೋ ಹರಿರಿಥಿ ಫ್ರತಿಪದಯಂತಮಾನಂದತೀರ್ಥಮುನಿವರ್ಯಮಹಂ ನಮಾಮಿ

nArAyaNaya paripoorNa guNarNavAya vishwOdayasthitilayOnniyatipradAya

~gnAnapradAya vibudhAsurasauKyaduHKa satkaaraNaya vitatAya namO namastE

yOvipralaMbavipareetamatiprabhootAn vaadAnirasya krutavAn Buvi tattwavAdham

prakShAlya pANi pAdau cApyAcamya harivESmanaH

upadvAraM samAgamya BaktyA kurYacChriyai namaH||

pUrvE namO jayAyAtha vijayAyAtha dakShiNE

shriyai balAya prabalayAtha prataik shriyai namaH||

naMdAyatha sunaMdAya shriyai cha kumudAya cha

kumudAkShAyOttarE cha dvArapAlAMshca pojayEt||

ಪ್ರಕ್ಷಾಲ್ಯ ಪಾಣಿ ಪಾದೌ ಚಾಪ್ಯಾಚಮ್ಯ ಹರಿವೇಶ್ಮನಃ

ಉಪದ್ವಾರಂ ಸಮಾಗಮ್ಯ ಭಕ್ತ್ಯಾ ಕುರ್ಯಚ್ಛ್ರಿಯೈ ನಮಃ||

ಪೂರ್ವೇ ನಮೋ ಜಯಾಯಾಥ ವಿಜಯಾಯಾಥ ದಕ್ಷಿಣೇ

ಶ್ರಿಯೈ ಬಲಾಯ ಪ್ರಬಲಯಾಥ ಪ್ರತೈಕ್ ಶ್ರಿಯೈ ನಮಃ||

ನಂದಾಯಥ ಸುನಂದಾಯ ಶ್ರಿಯೈ ಚ ಕುಮುದಾಯ ಚ

ಕುಮುದಾಕ್ಷಾಯೋತ್ತರೇ ಚ ದ್ವಾರಪಾಲಾಂಶ್ಚ ಪೊಜಯೇತ್||

Go to the door of the devagriha and think that in each of the four directions, the guardians are

(East)  Purva Dware Sriyai Namaha/ Jayaya Namaha/ Vijayaya Namaha/

(South) Dhakshina Dware Sriyai Namaha/Balaya Namaha/ Prabalaya Namaha/

(West) Paschima Dware Sriyai Namaha/Nandaya Namaha/ Sunandaya Namaha/

(North) Uttara Dware Sriyai Namaha/Kumudhaya Namaha/Kumudhakshaya Namaha/

Also, One should visualize that in each direction there are four doors, totaling 16 doors, and pray to the guardians for those doors as prescribed earlier.

      The regular chanting of Shreesha Guna Darpana gives great spiritual and material wealth. This stotra is said to be a condensed version of Sri Lakshmi hRudhaya and nArAyaNa hRud haya which is read and used in worship to achieve spiritual and material wealth.
      First Stanza:
      Goddess Lakshmi has heavenly perfume in all the nine openings of her divine body such as nose, eyes, ears, mouth, etc. She is beyond the world consisting of Living (chetana) and Non-Living (inanimate – achetana) [ಸಂವೇದನಾಶೀಲ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾಶೂನ್ಯ] things. As bhUdevi, she is the cause of all the growth in plants on earth.
      Second Stanza:
      She has beautiful limbs and endowed with divine beauty. She is the Goddess of all living beings. I invite her to my home.
      She is the one who remains forever young & beautiful. She is the one who is the Supreme mistress of all living beings & I invite her to my abode.
      Third Stanza:
      Mother Goddess Lakshmi! You are dear to Lord mAdhava, I bow to you. You are father and mother to the world. Both of you are inseparable from each other.
      The beloved of Madhava, Mother Lakshmi — my salutations to thee. You & Madhava are the parents of the world & everlastingly inseparable.
      Fourth Stanza:
      Mother! You are present in all space and time along with my Lord (Srihari). This is why you are called samanA. My Lord will never get angry with you.
      Oh Mother, you are present at all places & ages with my Lord Sri Hari & hence YOU are ‘samana’ (equal).
      Fifth Stanza:
      You are the Goddess associated (abhimAni devAtha) with vedas. Your loving Lord can be known by vedas alone. You are the origin for all matter (mUla prakRuthi) and He is the origin of all men.
      You are the pride of vedas. Your beloved Sri Hari is the supreme Lord and giver of the vedas. You are the origin of nature & He, your beloved is the Supreme Lord.
      Sixth Stanza:
      Lord Sri Hari keeps you in his bosom always adorned with his Kausthuba & will not let go of you even during the time of Pralaya.
      OR Mother! Sri Hari wears you in his chest that is shining with the light of the Kausthuba divine gem. He does not leave you even during pralaya (the Deluge-total destruction).

      Seventh Stanza:
      Oh Devi, you are a jewel among women & your Lord Sri Hari is the supreme. Both are the same age (samana (equal) with respect to time, space only).
      Goddess Lakshmi! You are like a diamond among ladies and Your Lord is Sarvothama (superior to ALL). Both of you have eternal youth. Both of you are of the same age.
      Eighth Stanza:
      Oh Mahalakshmi! Your reside in the lotus, your face is like the lotus, your eyes are like the lotus, your seat is the lotus, you hold the lotus in your hands & Your bosom is like lotus buds.
      Mahalakshmi! You live on a lotus. Your angelic face is like a lotus. Your eyes are like lotus petals. Your seat is also a lotus. You hold lotus in your hands. Your bosom shines like lotus buds.
      Ninth Stanza:
      Oh Mahalakshmi, your hands & feet are as lovely as the lotus & you are the beloved of the Lord Padmanabha. You are the mother of the lotus born Brahma. Your name itself is the lotus.
      Goddess Lakshmi! Your hands and feet are like lotuses. You are dear to Sri Padmanabha’s mind. You are mother to brahma who was born out of a lotus. Your name itself is lotus.
      Tenth Stanza:
      Mahalakshmi is clad in the finest silk, her face beautifully framed by her tresses, lips like ripe fruits & wearing sacred thilak on her forehead.
      I worship Sri Mahalakshmi who wears Pithambara (auspicious yellow colored dress). Her face is shining from tresses from her hair. Her lips are like the Pointed Gourd (ತೊಂಡೆ ಹಣ್ಣು). I worship such as Sri Lakshmi who wears thilaka (auspicious mark) made of kasturi on her forehead.
      Eleventh Stanza:
      Mahalakshmi is wearing a necklace studded with bright gems & her cheeks reflect the brilliance of her ear ornament. Such a one, I pray to you.
      I worship Goddess Lakshmi! Who wears a mangalya (sacred thread signifying marriage) made of shining diamonds and whose cheeks are shining from the light reflected by her ear rings.
      Twelfth Stanza:
      Mahalakshmi is most beautiful & adorned with a garland that is swinging over her blouse. She has a golden belt around her midriff with tinkling bells around her ankles & bangles on her arms. Such a one, I pray to you.
      Thirteenth Stanza:
      I bow to you & salute you. Oh Mahalakshmi, the one seated with Lord Sri Hari on a golden throne adorned with precious jewels.
      Fourteenth Stanza:
      I worship Goddess Lakshmi! One who is revered by the four faced Brahma, Sarasvati & other divine women, such a Ramaa Devi may you always protect me.
      Fifteenth Stanza:
      Lakshmi & Narayana are forever well adorned, are all knowing, replete with all divine qualities & are those that grant the wishes of Brahma, Rudra & all their other devotees. I praise & pray to you Lakshmi & Narayana.
      Sri Lakshmi and Narayana are adorned with all ornaments, know everything and have all good qualities. I worship Sri Lakshmi and Narayana who give blessings that fulfill the wishes of all their devotees beginning with Lord Brahma, Vayu, and Rudra.
      Sixteenth Stanza:
      The faces of Lakshmi & Narayana are beautiful and so are their noses. They are of ephemeral bodies. The gods worship at their feet. Oh Lakshmi & Narayana, I pray to you.
      Sri Lakshmi and Narayana have beautiful face. They are very beautiful with a graceful nose and body made of chit. Devatas worship their lotus like feet. I sing the praises of Sri Lakshmi Narayana having such great unfathomable qualities.
      Seventeenth Stanza:
      Mahalakshmi has four tresses. The four headed Brahma & other gods sing praises to her. The four Vedas too praise Her. She is the beloved of Lord Sri Hari who has four forms such as Vasudeva. Such a one, I salute & bow to you in reverence.
      Sri Mahalakshmi has four braids in her hair. She is worshipped by four faced brahma and other gods. Four Vedas extoll her qualities. I worship goddess Lakshmi, who is very dear to Sri Hari who has four forms named (Vasudeva, Sankarshana, Pradyumna and Anirudha).
      Eighteenth Stanza:
      The One who always grants her devotees rice with ghee, copious amounts of wealth and always protects them, Oh Mahalakshmi, I bow to you.
      I worship Goddess Sri Lakshmi who is (Abhimani) for ghee (clarified butter). She gives devotees rice mixed with ghee, plentiful money and blessings of her protection (abhaya) forever.
      Nineteenth Stanza:
      Those who recite this Shreeshagunadarpana stotra of Lakshmi & Narayana composed by Sri Sri Vadiraja Theertha would become wealthy. There is no doubt in this.
      A person who reads this stotra composed by Sri Vadiraja swami will be blessed with great wealth. There is no doubt about this.
